Flower walls

In the past year flower walls have really been 'our thing'. We have made many of different colours, styles and looks, most have been vast.
They take an awful lot of flowers and just as much work, there is no hurrying them as every gap needs to be filled and every flower placed with attention given to the overall consistent spread of colours and variety. If you go to our sister site of vidaconcept.co.nz you will see how we construct them from beginning to end.
The overall effect once completed is quite mesmerising

We are back blogging!

Goodness it has been too long and it is time to get blogging again.
So much has happened at Vida in the last year and I am now going to be very diligent in updating on all the goings on and what we are creating.
Also I will share my thoughts on what inspires me and my team, things that make us smile, these can be varied from the first blossom, a piece of fabric, a new flower that has just come in, or even a customers joy (we like that best of all).
So stay tuned as I get inspired!

Cloudy Bay Event

A great location in Achilles House with the open beams, black stained floors and a raw open ceiling with skylights allowing natural light to beam through. The venue has fantastic rounded New York loft like windows that left all of us wanting to shift straight in and live for the rest of our days. Very cool venue. The decoration that we created to suit the event needed to be subtle and natural, after all the event was all about the food and the wine and not all about us! So the hanging plants added a natural simplicity to the room with loads of candles down the table (Wax candles that have LED lights inside - brilliant!) worked a treat and as you can see added a lovely glow to table.
When working on events with Martin Bosley and his team they like us to pull elements for the menu and make a feature of them. As you will see further down the 'Potato Mound', 'Firey Mushrooms' and 'Cauliflower Clouds', these added a bit of fun to the pre dinner room above each of the relevent pods or stations that served hor d'oeuvres for the evening.

Orchid String Garden at night

Imagine the reaction of the guests walking up the stairs to this masterpiece!
If only we were a fly in the wall here..

The 'moon' in the background adds a certain mysterious component...

Our favourite....table set ready to go...

The overall look with lighting was a dream!  It adds that extra ingredient to perfect and highlight its beauty...our favourite event in recent months...such a pleasure to work on!

Orchid String Garden

This installment was made up of 60 orchid plants....phaleonopsis, cymbidium & slipper orchids in a variety of colours and forms

The fluro pink of the phaleonopsis and the vibrant greens of the cymbidium injected spurts of colour in the lush canopy

Within touching distance of the table below the hanging garden created a certain intimacy within the open space

The variations in height, colour, texture & form created interest as each plants' roots were covered in artificial or fresh moss

The rigid line of wax vases complemented the irregular pattern of the orchids overhanging...Some of the cymbidium orchids even had grass growing from their roots (we waited with bated breath a good 7 days to see the results from the little seeds!)

Top lighting from the rigging installed especially for the event became most effective at night...
....so watch out for our next blog post tomorrow to catch a glimpse...
